Understanding Stripe Payment Processing Fees
This article explains Stripe's payment processing fees, when they're deducted, and how to control your payout schedule.
Stripe's Standard Fees
Stripe charges 3.4% + $0.30 per successful transaction for all card types, including:
- Visa
- Mastercard
- American Express
- Discover
- Other cards
This rate applies uniformly regardless of the card type or tier.
When Are Fees Deducted?
Fees are deducted at the point of sale - when the transaction is processed, not at the end of the month.
For example, if a customer pays $100:
- Stripe fee: $3.40 + $0.30 = $3.70
- You receive: $96.30
The net amount is what gets deposited to your bank account.
Payment Deposit Schedule
How frequently you receive deposits is controlled through your Stripe settings:
Options Include:
- Daily (standard for most accounts)
- Weekly
- Monthly
- Manual (you request payouts)
Changing Your Payout Schedule:
- Log into Stripe Dashboard
- Go to Settings > Payouts
- Choose your preferred payout schedule
- Save changes
Payout Timing
Standard payout timing is 2 business days for US accounts, meaning:
- Monday's sales → Wednesday deposit
- Friday's sales → Tuesday deposit (skipping weekend)
Some accounts may have different timing based on Stripe's risk assessment.
Pass Fees to Customers (Optional)
If you want to receive the full product price and pass fees to customers:
- Edit the product
- Enable "Pass on Stripe and platform fees to the customer"
- Save the product
A "Platform Fee" line item will be added to the customer's total.
Viewing Fee Details
To see fee breakdowns:
- Log into Stripe Dashboard
- Go to Payments
- Click on any transaction
- View the "Fee" section for detailed breakdown
Tips
- Plan for fees: Factor 3.4% + $0.30 into your pricing
- Batch deposits: Weekly or monthly payouts mean fewer bank transactions to reconcile
- Track in reports: Use Zipper's payout reports to track net revenue

These fees are set by Stripe and passed through directly. Zipper does not add additional payment processing fees beyond any platform fees based on your subscription tier.
