How to Set Different Prices for Different Customer Groups
Learn how to create multiple pricing tiers for classes and events so different customer groups see different prices. This allows you to offer member discounts, early bird pricing, and other pricing variations.
Before You Begin
- You must be logged in to your account at https://app.joinzipper.com
- You need permission to manage schedules (typically organization owners and admins have this permission)
- A class or event to configure
- Subscription products created (if offering member discounts)
Steps
Step 1: Navigate to Class or Event
- Log in to your account at https://app.joinzipper.com/auth/login
- From the dashboard, click Calendar in the left sidebar
- Find the class or event you want to configure:
- Browse your calendar
- Or go to Classes or Events and find it
- Click on the class or event to open it
What happens next: You'll see the class or event edit page.
Step 2: Find Payment Section
- On the edit page, find the Payment section
- This section contains:
- Payment option toggles
- Price settings
- Pricing tiers configuration
Note: Pricing tiers are typically in Step 3 (Payment) of the class/event creation/editing wizard.
Step 3: Configure Pricing Tiers
Create multiple pricing tiers:
Default Price:
- Set the standard/default price
- This is what most customers will see
- Example: $20 per session
Member Discount (for subscription holders):
- Set a discounted price for subscription holders
- Customers with active subscriptions see this price
- Example: $15 per session (25% discount)
- Requires subscription products to be created
Early Bird Pricing (optional):
- Set a special price for early registrations
- Applies to registrations before a certain date
- Example: $18 per session (10% discount)
Add pricing tiers:
- Look for Add Pricing Tier or Create Tier option
- Create additional pricing tiers as needed
- Configure each tier with its price and conditions
Note: You can create multiple pricing tiers for different customer groups or conditions.
Step 4: Configure Tier Conditions
Set conditions for each tier:
Member Discount Tier:
- Condition: Customer has active subscription
- Applies to: Subscription holders
- Price: Discounted amount
Early Bird Tier:
- Condition: Registration before specific date
- Applies to: Early registrations
- Price: Special amount
Other Tiers:
- Set conditions as needed
- Configure when tier applies
- Set tier price
Note: Conditions determine which customers see which price.
Step 5: Set Tier Prices
Enter price for each tier:
- Default price: Standard amount
- Member discount: Discounted amount
- Early bird: Special amount
- Other tiers: Their respective prices
Price display:
- Customers see the price that applies to them
- Price is determined by customer's status
- Example: Subscription holders see member price, others see default price
Note: Customers automatically see the price that applies to them based on their status.
Step 6: Save Changes
- Review your pricing tiers:
- Default price is set
- Member discount is configured (if applicable)
- Early bird pricing is set (if applicable)
- All tiers are configured correctly
- Click Save (or complete the wizard)
- Pricing tiers will be saved
- You'll see a confirmation
- Pricing tiers will take effect immediately
What happens next: Pricing tiers will be configured and:
- Customers see prices based on their status
- Subscription holders see member discounts
- Early registrants see early bird pricing
- Other customers see default pricing
- Prices are applied automatically
How Pricing Tiers Work
When pricing tiers are set:
Customer views pricing:
- System checks customer's status
- Determines which tier applies
- Shows appropriate price
Price application:
- Subscription holders: See member discount price
- Early registrants: See early bird price (if applicable)
- Other customers: See default price
Automatic selection:
- Customers don't choose tiers
- System applies correct tier automatically
- Price is shown during registration
Tips
- Set clear default price for most customers
- Offer member discounts to encourage subscriptions
- Use early bird pricing to drive early registrations
- Test pricing to ensure correct prices are shown
- Review pricing tiers regularly
