How to Send a Package Invite to a Customer
Learn how to invite specific customers to purchase packages or products. Package invites allow you to target specific customers with personalized offers, track invite acceptance, and send reminders. Invites can only be sent for products managed via Stripe.
Before You Begin
- You must be logged in to your account at https://app.joinzipper.com
- You need permission to manage products (typically organization owners and admins have this permission)
- The product must be managed via Stripe (have a Stripe product ID)
- The customer must exist in your roster (or you can create them during the invite)
- The customer must have a valid email address
Steps
Step 1: Navigate to CRM or Products
- Log in to your account at https://app.joinzipper.com/auth/login
- You can start from either:
- CRM → find the customer → use invite action
- Products → select product → Invites section
Method 1 - From CRM:
- Click CRM in the left sidebar
- Find the customer you want to invite
- Click on the customer to open their profile
Method 2 - From Products:
- Click Products in the left sidebar
- Click on the product you want to invite customers to
- Go to the Invites section
Step 2: Open the Invite Modal
If starting from CRM:
- On the customer profile, look for Invite to package button
- Or find the invite action in customer actions
- Click the button
If starting from Products:
- In the product's Invites section, click Send invite or Invite customer
- Select the customer you want to invite
A modal window will open titled "Invite customer to product" or "Add customer"
What happens next: The invite modal will open with fields to fill in.
Step 3: Select or Enter Customer Information
If customer is already selected:
- Customer information will be pre-filled
- Verify the email address is correct
If creating a new customer:
- Email: Enter the customer's email address (required)
- First name: Enter the customer's first name (required if not inviting to manage account)
- Last name: Enter the customer's last name (required if not inviting to manage account)
- Phone number: Enter phone number (optional)
Invite customer to manage this account: Toggle this option
- If On: Customer will receive an email invitation to set up their own Zipper account
- If Off: Customer will not receive an invitation (you'll manage their account)
Note: If you leave required fields empty and try to send, you'll see error messages.
Step 4: Select the Product
- In the Product section, you'll see a dropdown or selection field
- Click to open the product selector
- Select the product you want to invite the customer to purchase
- Only products managed via Stripe will appear
- Products without Stripe product IDs cannot be used for invites
Important: If you don't see the product you want, make sure it's connected to Stripe and has a Stripe product ID.
Step 5: (Optional) Set Custom Price
- If the product supports variable pricing or you want to offer a custom price:
- Enter the Price you want to charge
- This overrides the product's default price for this invite
- Leave empty to use the product's default price
Note: Custom pricing is useful for special offers or discounts.
Step 6: Review and Send Invite
- Review all the information:
- Customer email is correct
- Product is selected
- Price is set (if custom pricing)
- Invite settings are configured
- Click Send invite (or Create customer if not inviting to manage account)
- The button will show a loading state while sending
- You'll see "Sent!" or a success message when complete
- The modal will close
What happens next: An email invitation will be sent to the customer.
Step 7: Customer Receives Invite
The customer will receive an email containing:
- Information about the product they're invited to purchase
- A link to accept or reject the invite
- Product details and pricing
- Instructions on how to proceed
Note: Customers can accept or reject invites. You can track invite status in your system.
Managing Invites
After sending invites, you can:
- View pending invites: See which customers have pending invites
- Track acceptance: See which customers accepted or rejected invites
- Send reminders: Remind customers about pending invites
- Cancel invites: Cancel invites if plans change
Tips
- Only products managed via Stripe can be used for invites
- Always verify customer email addresses before sending
- Use custom pricing for special offers or discounts
- Track invite acceptance to follow up with customers

Troubleshooting
Problem: I don't see the "Invite to package" button Solution: Check that:
- You have permission to manage products
- The customer exists in your roster (or you can create them)
- You're viewing the correct customer profile
Problem: I get "Invites can only be sent for products managed via Stripe" Solution: This error means the product doesn't have a Stripe product ID. To fix:
- Make sure the product is connected to Stripe
- Products must be managed via Stripe to send invites
- If the product isn't connected, you may need to recreate it or connect it to Stripe
Problem: I can't select a product Solution: Check that:
- Products exist in your organization
- Products are managed via Stripe
- Products are active and available
Problem: Customer didn't receive the invite email Solution: Check that:
- The customer's email address is correct
- The email address is valid and active
- Email notifications aren't disabled
- The email didn't go to spam/junk folder
You can resend the invite if needed.
Problem: The "Send invite" button is disabled Solution: Check that all required fields are filled in:
- Customer email is required
- Product must be selected
- First name and last name are required (if not inviting to manage account)
The button will enable automatically when all requirements are met.
