How to Replace Your Homepage in the Site Builder

If you've created a new homepage design and want to make it your actual homepage, or you want to significantly update your current homepage, here's how.

Option 1: Edit the Existing Homepage

The simplest approach is to edit your current homepage directly:

Step 1: Open the Site Editor

  1. Go to Sites in the left sidebar
  2. Select your site
  3. Click Edit to open the site builder

Step 2: Navigate to Homepage

  1. The homepage is usually the first page or marked as "Home"
  2. Click on it to select it for editing

Step 3: Make Your Changes

  1. Edit sections, add new blocks, remove old content
  2. Rearrange elements as needed
  3. Update text, images, and styling

Step 4: Save and Publish

  1. Save your changes
  2. Publish the site to make changes live

Option 2: Set a Different Page as Homepage

If you've created a completely new page you want as your homepage:

Step 1: Open Site Settings

  1. Go to Sites > select your site
  2. Find Settings or Site Settings

Step 2: Change Homepage

  1. Look for "Homepage" or "Default Page" setting
  2. Select the new page you want as your homepage
  3. Save settings

Step 3: Clean Up

  1. You may want to delete or redirect the old homepage
  2. Or repurpose it for another section of your site

Option 3: Copy Content Between Pages

If you want to use content from another page on your homepage:

  1. Open the page with the content you want
  2. Copy sections or blocks
  3. Navigate to your homepage
  4. Paste the sections
  5. Remove old content you're replacing

Tips

  • Save drafts first: Work on changes in draft mode before publishing
  • Preview before publishing: Check how changes look on desktop and mobile
  • Keep a backup: If doing major changes, note what was there before
  • Test links: Make sure navigation still works after changes

Common Scenarios

Complete Redesign

  1. Create a new page with your redesign
  2. Perfect it in draft mode
  3. When ready, either:
    • Copy all content to the existing homepage, or
    • Set the new page as the homepage

Seasonal Updates

  1. Edit the existing homepage
  2. Swap out seasonal banners/content
  3. Update promotions or featured items
  4. Publish when ready

A/B Testing a New Design

  1. Create the new homepage design as a separate page
  2. Link to it from a specific campaign
  3. Compare results
  4. If successful, make it the main homepage

After Replacing Your Homepage

  • Check redirects: Ensure old URLs redirect properly if page URLs changed
  • Update navigation: Make sure menus point to the right places
  • Test on mobile: Verify the new homepage looks good on phones
  • Review analytics: Monitor how the new homepage performs
