How to Create a Pay Rate Template

Learn how to create pay rate templates that can be assigned to multiple staff members. Templates help you maintain consistent pay rates across your organization.

Before You Begin

  • You must be logged in to your account at https://app.joinzipper.com
  • You need permission to manage pay rates (typically organization owners and admins have this permission)

Steps

Step 1: Navigate to Pay Rate Templates

  1. Log in to your account at https://app.joinzipper.com/auth/login
  2. From the dashboard, go to Pay Rates → Templates (or organization-wide rates)
  3. You'll see templates list

What happens next: You'll see existing templates (if any) and create options.

Step 2: Open Create Template

  1. On the Templates page, look for Create Template button
  2. Click Create Template
  3. A form will open

What happens next: You'll see fields to enter template details.

Step 3: Enter Template Details

  1. Name: Enter template name (required)

    • Make it descriptive and easy to identify
    • Example: "Instructor Rate", "Manager Salary", "Part-Time Hourly"
    • Name helps identify the template
  2. Rate: Enter pay rate amount

    • Example: "30.00" for $30 per hour
    • Example: "60000" for $60,000 salary
    • Enter numeric value
  3. Type: Select rate type

    • Hourly: Rate per hour
    • Salary: Annual salary
    • Other: Other rate types if available
    • Choose appropriate type

Note: Fill in template name, rate, and type.

Step 4: Save Template

  1. Review your template details:
    • Name is clear and descriptive
    • Rate amount is correct
    • Rate type is appropriate
  2. Click Save (or Create Template)
    • Template will be created
    • You'll see it appear in templates list
    • You'll see a confirmation

What happens next: Template will be created and:

  • Available for assignment to staff members
  • Visible in templates list
  • Can be assigned to multiple staff
  • Can be edited or deleted later

Using Templates

After creating templates, you can:

  1. Assign to staff: Assign templates to multiple staff members
  2. Edit templates: Update template details
  3. Delete templates: Remove templates if no longer needed
  4. Use for consistency: Maintain consistent pay rates across organization

  • Create templates for common pay rate structures
  • Use descriptive names for easy identification

Troubleshooting

Problem: I don't see Templates option Solution: Check that:

  • You have permission to manage pay rates
  • Templates feature is available
  • You're viewing the correct section

Solution: Verify you have access to pay rates. Contact support if templates aren't available.

Problem: I can't save the template Solution: Check that:

  • Template name is filled in (required)
  • Rate amount is valid
  • Rate type is selected

Solution: Fill in all required fields. Verify rate amount and type are correct.

Problem: I want to edit a template Solution: To edit template:

  • Go to templates list
  • Find the template to edit
  • Click Edit
  • Update template details
  • Save changes

Solution: Edit templates from the templates list. Update details and save changes.

Problem: I want to assign template to staff Solution: To assign template:

  • Go to staff member's pay rate
  • Select template from dropdown
  • Or assign template when creating pay rate
  • Template rate applies to staff member

Solution: Assign templates when setting pay rates for staff members.
