How to Control Product Visibility

Learn how to control where and how products appear to customers. You can control visibility in the customer app, public shop, and organize products into categories.

Before You Begin

• You must be logged in to your account at https://app.joinzipper.com
• You need permission to manage products (typically organization owners and admins have this permission)
• A product to configure

Steps

Step 1: Navigate to Product

1. Log in to your account at https://app.joinzipper.com/auth/login
2. From the dashboard, click Products in the left sidebar
3. Find the product you want to configure
4. Click on the product to open it

What happens next: You'll see the product edit form.

Step 2: Find Visibility Settings

1. In the product edit form, find the Visibility or Customer App Integration section
2. This section contains:
   • Show in App toggle
   • Shop Visibility settings
   • Category selection
   • Product ordering options

Note: Visibility settings are typically in the product details or integration section.

Step 3: Configure Show in App

1. Toggle Show in App:

   • If On: Product appears in customer app and website
   • If Off: Product is hidden from customer app and website
   • Customers can't see or purchase hidden products

2. Show in App considerations:

   • Controls customer-facing visibility
   • Hidden products aren't accessible to customers
   • Useful for internal or test products

Note: Show in App controls whether customers can see the product.

Step 4: Configure Shop Visibility

1. Set Shop Visibility:

   • Show in Shop: Product appears in public shop
   • Hide from Shop: Product is hidden from public shop
   • Requires Consultation: Hidden from public, generates special sign-up URL
   • Requires Approval: Customers must request access

2. Shop visibility options:

   • Control public visibility
   • Manage who can see products
   • Create exclusive or private products

Note: Shop visibility controls public access to products.

Step 5: Organize into Categories

1. Select or create category:

   • Choose existing category from dropdown
   • Or create new category
   • Organize products into groups

2. Category benefits:

   • Helps customers find products
   • Organizes your product catalog
   • Improves navigation

Note: Categories help organize and display products effectively.

Step 6: Set Product Ordering

1. Configure display order (if available):

   • Set order in which product appears
   • Lower numbers appear first
   • Higher numbers appear later
   • Helps control product display sequence

2. Ordering considerations:

   • Control product listing order
   • Highlight important products
   • Organize product display

Note: Product ordering helps control how products are displayed to customers.

Step 7: Save Product

1. Review your visibility settings:
   • Show in App is configured
   • Shop Visibility is set
   • Category is selected (if applicable)
   • Product ordering is set (if applicable)
2. Click Save
   • Visibility settings will be saved
   • You'll see a confirmation
3. Visibility settings will take effect immediately

What happens next: Visibility settings will be configured and:

• Product appears or is hidden based on settings
• Customers see products according to visibility
• Products are organized into categories
• Display order is applied

• Use Show in App to control customer app visibility
• Use Shop Visibility to control public access
• Organize products into categories for better navigation
• Set product ordering to highlight important products
• Hide products you don't want customers to see

Troubleshooting

Problem: I don't see visibility settings Solution: Check that:

• You're editing the product (not just viewing)
• Visibility section exists in the product form
• You have permission to manage products

Solution: Make sure you're editing the product. Contact your organization owner if you need access.

Problem: Product isn't showing to customers Solution: Check that:

• Show in App is enabled
• Shop Visibility allows customer access
• Product is saved with visibility settings

Solution: Verify Show in App is enabled and Shop Visibility allows access. Check settings are saved.

Problem: Product is showing when it shouldn't Solution: Check visibility settings:

• Disable Show in App if you want to hide it
• Set Shop Visibility to hide from shop
• Save changes

Solution: Adjust visibility settings to hide the product. Save changes to apply.

Problem: I can't create categories Solution: Check that:

• Category feature is available
• You have permission to manage products
• Category creation is enabled

Solution: Verify category feature is available. Contact support if category creation isn't working.
