How to Connect Twilio for SMS Sending

Learn how to connect Twilio integration to enable SMS sending capabilities. Twilio integration is required to send SMS messages to your contact lists.

Before You Begin

  • You must be logged in to your account at https://app.joinzipper.com
  • You need permission to manage organization integrations (typically organization owners have this permission)
  • A Twilio account with credentials (Account SID, Auth Token, Phone Number)

Steps

Step 1: Navigate to Integrations

  1. Log in to your account at https://app.joinzipper.com/auth/login
  2. From the dashboard, go to Organization Management → Integrations
  3. You'll see available integrations including Twilio

What happens next: You'll see the integrations page with connection options.

Step 2: Find Twilio Integration

  1. On the Integrations page, find Twilio in the list
  2. You'll see:
    • Twilio integration card or section
    • Connection status (Connected or Not Connected)
    • Connect Twilio button if not connected

Note: If Twilio is already connected, you'll see connection details and options to manage it.

Step 3: Start Twilio Connection

  1. Click Connect Twilio (or Authorize or Connect)
  2. Twilio connection form will open

What happens next: You'll see fields to enter Twilio credentials.

Step 4: Enter Twilio Credentials

  1. Account SID: Enter your Twilio Account SID

    • Found in Twilio Console
    • Unique identifier for your Twilio account
    • Example: "ACxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"
  2. Auth Token: Enter your Twilio Auth Token

    • Found in Twilio Console
    • Secret key for authentication
    • Keep secure and don't share
  3. Phone Number: Enter your Twilio phone number

    • Phone number from Twilio
    • Format: Include country code
    • Example: "+15551234567"

Important: Get these credentials from your Twilio account dashboard.

Step 5: Complete Connection

  1. Review your Twilio credentials:
    • Account SID is correct
    • Auth Token is correct
    • Phone number is correct
  2. Click Connect or Save
    • Connection will be established
    • Credentials will be verified
    • You'll see a confirmation

What happens next: Twilio will be connected and:

  • Available for SMS sending
  • Visible in integration settings
  • Ready to use for SMS campaigns
  • SMS sending is enabled

Getting Twilio Credentials

If you need to get Twilio credentials:

  1. Log in to Twilio Console:

  2. Find Account SID and Auth Token:

    • Account SID: Found on dashboard homepage
    • Auth Token: Click to reveal (keep secret)
  3. Get Phone Number:

    • Go to Phone Numbers section
    • Find your Twilio phone number
    • Copy phone number with country code

Tips

  • Keep Twilio credentials secure
  • Don't share Auth Token
  • Use Twilio phone number for sending
  • Test SMS sending after connection
  • Keep Twilio account active

Troubleshooting

Problem: I don't see Twilio integration Solution: Check that:

  • Twilio integration is available
  • You're viewing the correct integrations page
  • Integration feature is enabled

Solution: Verify Twilio integration is available. Contact support if it's not showing.

Problem: Connection fails Solution: Check that:

  • Account SID is correct
  • Auth Token is correct
  • Phone number format is correct
  • Twilio account is active

Solution: Verify all credentials are correct. Check Twilio account status.

Problem: I can't send SMS messages Solution: Check that:

  • Twilio is connected and active
  • Phone number is configured correctly
  • Twilio account has credits/balance
  • SMS sending is enabled

Solution: Verify Twilio connection is active. Check Twilio account balance and phone number configuration.

Problem: I want to disconnect Twilio Solution: To disconnect:

  • Go to Integrations → Twilio
  • Click Disconnect or Remove
  • Confirm disconnection
  • Credentials will be deleted

Solution: Disconnect Twilio from integrations settings. Connection can be re-established later.
