How to Add More Time Slots to a Class

Learn how to add additional time slots to an existing class. This allows you to expand your class schedule by adding new meeting times without creating a new class.

Before You Begin

  • You must be logged in to your account at https://app.joinzipper.com
  • You need permission to manage schedules (typically organization owners and admins have this permission)
  • A class that already exists
  • At least one provider/instructor available (optional but recommended)
  • At least one location set up (optional but recommended)

Steps

Step 1: Navigate to Class Edit Page

  1. Log in to your account at https://app.joinzipper.com/auth/login
  2. From the dashboard, click Calendar in the left sidebar
  3. Find the class you want to add time slots to:
    • Browse your calendar
    • Or go to Classes and find the class
  4. Click on the class to open it
  5. You'll be taken to the class edit page

What happens next: You'll see the class details and existing time slots.

Step 2: Find Scheduling Section

  1. On the class edit page, find the Scheduling section
  2. This section shows:
    • Existing time slots
    • Days and times the class meets
    • Providers and locations for each time slot
    • Date ranges for each time slot

Note: The Scheduling section contains all time slot information.

Step 3: Edit Scheduling

  1. In the Scheduling section, look for Edit button next to Scheduling
  2. Click Edit
  3. The scheduling editor will open

What happens next: You'll see the time slot management interface.

  2. Click to add a new time slot
  3. A time slot form will open

What happens next: You'll see fields to configure the new time slot.

Step 5: Configure New Time Slot

  1. Day of week: Select which day(s) the new time slot meets

    • Example: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
    • Or select a single day
  2. Start time: Set when the new time slot starts

    • Example: 6:00 PM
    • Use time picker to select time
  3. Provider (optional but recommended): Select the instructor

    • Choose from your organization's providers
    • This instructor will teach all sessions in this time slot
  4. Location (optional but recommended): Select the location

    • Choose from your saved locations
    • Or enter a new location
    • Can be physical address, virtual meeting link, or hybrid
  5. Start date: When this time slot begins

    • Select the date when sessions start
    • Example: January 1, 2024
  6. End date: When this time slot ends

    • Select the date when sessions stop
    • Or leave open-ended
    • Example: March 31, 2024

Step 6: Save Changes

  1. Review your new time slot:
    • Day of week is selected
    • Start time is set
    • Provider is selected (if applicable)
    • Location is selected (if applicable)
    • Start and end dates are set
  2. Click Save Changes
    • The time slot will be added
    • New sessions will be automatically generated
    • You'll see a confirmation

What happens next: The new time slot will be added and:

  • New sessions will be automatically generated based on the date range
  • Sessions follow the same pattern (day, time, instructor, location)
  • Sessions appear on your calendar
  • Customers can register for the new sessions

How New Sessions Are Generated

When you add a time slot:

  1. Sessions are created automatically:

    • One session for each occurrence of the day/time
    • Based on the date range you specified
    • Example: Monday 6pm from Jan 1 to Mar 31 = ~13 sessions
  2. Sessions inherit class settings:

    • Same payment options
    • Same registration form
    • Same capacity limits
    • Same waitlist settings
  3. Sessions are ready immediately:

    • Appear on your calendar
    • Available for customer registration
    • Follow the class's payment and registration rules

Tips

  • Add time slots to expand class availability without creating new classes
  • Use different time slots for different instructors or locations
  • Set appropriate date ranges to control when sessions are generated
  • Review generated sessions to ensure they're correct
  • You can edit or remove time slots later if needed
